Boston Market, the failing fast casual restaurant chain, has shuttered nearly all of its locations. As of February, 2025 there were only about a dozen locations left. I sought out this endangered establishment at the behest of my girlfriend who swore upon its quality. The review captures this meal as a whole rather than focusing on a single element and the scores are presented at the bottom. I entered the building and immediately regretted my decision. We were the only people in this dingy establishment, the posters were falling down, behind the counter was some random assortment of furniture, a large piece of artwork, a microwave, and storage materials. There was one employee in the joint who asked me what I wanted. I decided on the turkey and gravy with potatoes, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The entire meal cost $14.92 and came with no drink.
The whole tray had a combined strong aroma of cheese and gravy. I tried the slop, starting with the turkey and gravy, and was met with a dry piece of turkey smothered in an insipid gravy. In a blind taste test it would be difficult to accurately determine if this came from a microwaved frozen dinner or a hospital cafeteria.
The macaroni and cheese was kinder to my tastebuds. It was peppery and smooth with a lower viscosity than expected which apparently didn't live up to the "old recipe" but it was passable and one of the better parts of the meal.
The potatoes had edges that were difficult to chew through but the inside was still soft. These were obviously left out for a long while under the heat lamp.
The cornbread was almost as difficult to choke down as loosing your favorite childhood fast food chain to private equity mismanagement. In an attempt to quickly exit the establishment I scarfed down the remaining cornbread and ended up having to chase it down with a spoon of gravy to avoid a choking fit.
Overall, the meal was quite edible for the most part. I would choose this over a hungry man frozen dinner 1 times out of 10 if it was offered for free.
