DJs Clam Shack Kung Pao Calamari

Hi again I am back at it with another Adrian Best Food Reviews. Sorry for the long hiatus, I've been busy.

I journeyed back to the legendary DJs Clam Shack to try another item off their menu. In review, the items I have tried thus far include: the shrimp roll, clam chowder (it made me horribly sick (I am lactose intolerant)), and the garlic bread (which was great but undeserving of a review by itself).

To start the presentation of this meal has the checkered basket and crisp golden brown calamari rings with a humble lemon slice on the side. It scores an 8. The smell of this meal was faint but existent which was made of mostly the kung pao sauce. It scores a 7. The first thing I noticed when I pierced a ring with my fork is the crispiness of the calamari that is offset by the thick kung pao sauce. Biting into the ring I happily found that its crispiness was preserved and the calamari itself was only slightly chewy as it should be earning this a high score in texture. It scores a 9. The taste of the calamari was not overwhelmed by the kung pao sauce which itself had the sweet and slightly spicy taste that kung pao should have. It scores an 8. Undoubtedly this fried meal is not very healthy but better than some of the other options I have reviewed. It scores a 4. Finally we have its cost, arguably the most important factor. It cost me $13 and I felt extremely full after consuming the meal. Given that it is a seafood and fulfilled its purpose in satiating my hunger it scores quite high. It scores a 7. Overall the meal scored 7.42. It was mainly brought down by its nutritional value and moderate price tag. I will definitely be going back to enjoy the delicious food and delightful Jimmy Buffet-esque atmosphere.
