KFC Zinger Review

Hello friends, it has been almost an entire year since I posted and I know all my readers were anxiously awaiting my return. I've finally been inspired to write another food review after having one of my all time favorite fast food sandwiches - The Zinger. This sandwich produced by KFC made its debut in the land down under nearly 40 years ago in 1985. It is now one of the most popular KFC sandwiches and offered in over 120 countries. Unfortunately, the United States of America is not included among these 120 countries but the Republic of Poland is included.

The Zinger has been on the market long before the chicken sandwich craze that took hold Popeyes, McDonald's, and Burger King in recent years so they have had time to perfect their craft. The presentation of the sandwich is standard in a wrapper with some toppings falling out of the sandwich upon being unwrapped. It has lettuce and spicy mayo on the chicken so the sandwich is rather simple. For the daring (or those with 1zl in their pocket) the Zinger can be equipped with cheese or bacon. For presentation this scores an 8. Upon biting into the sandwich you really get to taste the simple yet mouth watering sandwich. The chicken falls apart in your mouth with a slight spice from the breading the lettuce adds a needed crunch and the spicy mayo rounds out the flavor profile with smoothness. Few foods that I have reviewed can top this sandwich in terms of taste and only the Heisenburger can rival it in the sandwich tier. There is some slight room for improvement as it feels like there is something missing. Maybe onion? pickles? a different sauce? I wish I had more options other than bacon and cheese to experiment with. For taste this scores a 9. The texture of this sandwich is good with the lettuce adding a crispiness that can sometimes be missing from the chicken. The bun can be quite dry but is never bad enough to raise a real complaint. For texture this scores a 7. The aroma of this sandwich is mostly made up of the chicken and mayo. It is delightfully subtle as it is present but not very strong. For aroma this scores an 8. The cost of this sandwich was 18zl which amounts to around $4.5. The price of this sandwich is just beyond the realm of possibility for a sandwich of its size and make in this day and age. In 2016 this would score around a 6 in cost but today it is cheaper than the Polish McChicken which is a comparable sandwich in make though it is quite a bit smaller. This scores a 9 for cost. As this is a fast food sandwich it cannot score high in nutritional value. However, this was a fast food sandwich in Poland which does not honor the age old American tradition of including high fructose corn syrup in every meal so this scores a bit higher than what the American counterpart would. This scores a 7 in nutritional value.

It is truly a phenomenal sandwich that can almost singlehandedly make up for KFC's lacking menu variety and quality.
