There is a bar tucked away near the tracks of the North East Corridor that is called Destination Dogs. On top of beer and cocktails, the bar serves gourmet hot dogs inspired from various locations in the world, all served up with a charming logo.
The hot dog I ordered was the Chicago Bull inspired by the Windy City. This dog contained an all beef hot dog with yellow mustard, relish, tomato, onions, pickle, sport peppers, and celery salt on a lightly toasted brioche bun.
I received this dog and was surprised by the presentation. Of course, this is a restaurant so a better presentation was to be expected when compared to some of the other hot dogs reviewed on this page. The spear was charming, the brioche bun was wonderfully toasted, and the looked cooked to perfection. They could have leaned more into the silly hot dog aspect present on their logo. This received a 9 for presentation. This dog had a subtle smell which was fresh due to the vegetables piled on top of the dog. It received an 8 for aroma. Upon biting into the sausage the skin burst and the soft inside was revealed. As I got further into the dog I realized that the sport peppers had a distracting texture and the skin of the hot dog was a bit too tough. Otherwise the soft brioche bun and the crisp vegetables were enjoyable so this scores a 7 in texture. The taste of the hot dog was quite enjoyable. The veggies all contributed their share to the taste and together it all worked well. There was nothing overwhelmingly great about this hot dog tastewise but it was a very solid dog. I was famished so I snarfed it down without savoring it much. This scores an 8 in taste. The dog has a good amount of veggies and was not too oily so this scores a 6 in nutrition as it is still a hot dog. The dog was $6.75 so quite a bit more expensive than other dogs that I have reviewed but it was very filling so it scores a 5 in cost. Overall, the atmosphere, drinks, and dogs were great and I would go back again.Taste: 8
