Zabka Hot Dog Review

Czescz! I was in the wonderfully charming and bustling city of Elk, Poland when I started to get a hankering for a zabka hot dog. I had just passed five of them when I happened upon a sixth one all on a half mile stretch through town. Walking in I first passed the display of chips seeing if there was anything interesting but they did not have the peanut corn chips I was looking for. Then I passed the sodas and energy drinks where there was a sale on energy drinks making them the equivalent of 30 US cents. Afterwards I took a look at the beer selection but they only had seven of Poland's mainstream beers. Finally, I perused the liquor section eyeing a mint infused vodka but was interrupted by the cashier asking what I wanted to get. I ordered a hot dog and said no I did not have the app. I customized my dog with garlic sauce.

It ran me 7 polish zloty which amounts to about $1.83. Notably this is more expensive than both the Costco and the Sam's Club hot dog COMBOS which obviously include a drink along with their dog. With the app this comes down to about $1.18 so maybe next time I'll download the app. The dog was quite satiating (about as much as one from the wholesale clubs) and also the large variety of sauces to choose from makes it worth a little more than the basics available at the wholesale club cafes. This earns a 9 in cost.

Biting into the hot dog I was able to get the dog, sauce, and some of the bread on the first bite. The glizzy was succulent with a crisp skin and a soft flavorful inside. The dribbling sauce was captured by my mouth wetting the whole bite with a salty, garlic taste. The bread which nestled the glizzy was crispy and freshly toasted giving the whole experience a nice warm start with that first crunch. This scores a 9 in both taste and texture.

The garlic sauce enhanced the normally pleasant aroma of the dogs cooking on the rollers. This scores a 9 in aroma.

Since this was just bread, meat, and sauce it does not muster many points in nutrition. This scores a 3 in nutrition.

The hot dog was wrapped in a zabka wrapper with a napkin showing some of the bread and the tip of the hot dog, oozing garlic sauce down the whole item. This scores an 8 in presentation.

While not as cheap as I expected for Polish fast food, this is a widely available treat that is sure to satisfy your cravings. Until next time! Dowidzenia!
